All townships on the island are linked by bitumen roads. A 4WD is required for driving on beaches and inland tracks.  A permit is required for beach driving and is available from the ferry companies and also several outlets on North Stradbroke Island.  At present the permit costs A$39.00 for 12 months.  It is recommended to come with a car or 4WD so that you can fully explore and enjoy what Point Lookout and North Stradbroke Island has to offer.
